If you missed My Son’s First Birthday, here is a brief recap.
We like to keep it simple.
Decor that won’t break the bank, or end up in the trash or donation bin the next day.
Food is always gluten free and delicious.
There is always plenty of adult beverages.
Gifts are simple, something Liam needs, can wear and can read.
We just LOVE house plants, palm leaves and anything that resembles life.
Plus what perfect way to end the summer than with the perfect Palm Leaf custom tank from Pickled Peach Co.
First of all, we had Loves Landing come BEFORE the party, and take photos that I was wanting of us as a family.
There is nothing worse than having an audience when you are trying to take natural, not forced photos.
Not to pat myself on the back… but this was one of the best ideas I have ever had.. LOL
We will be doing this from here on out, photographer in the morning, before anyone needs a nap, is distracted for feels awkward!
For decor, I pulled house plants from our bedroom, used our Lorena Canals Rug , and wrapped empty boxes in past Stendig Calendar paper (because I had to add in some black and white!)
I did purchase a few items from Amazon just for the party, palm leaves, balloons, a balloon arch kit (yes, we made that ballon arch, it was so easy!)
We had Liam’s party at 7pm on his actual birthday. We decided that a “dessert only” party would keep things simple for everyone. (I was 19 weeks pregnant and wanting to keep stress low.)
Plus, does anyone else every feel like guests don’t end up appreciating all of the hard work you put into something?!
We served paleo donuts, two types of gluten free cookies, Snow Monkey Ice Treat and Terra chips to balance out all of the sugar.
Liam is the only child on both sides of the family, so this was very much an adult party. Not pictured would be the 8 types of beer, thank you Costco for their fun summer packs, LOL.
When it comes to gifts, we always make my son an Amazon Wish list and send it to family and guests. We fill his wish list with clothing, books, flash cards and toys. We have found by creating a list, he never ends up with gifts that we have to return, exchange, re-gift or donate.
I hope that you feel inspired by my son’s Second Birthday! Parties are SO fun, but can be so stressful! Feel released from pressure, family expectations and do what is FUN for you! If you are not a party person, spend the day as a family, have family photos taken, go to eat, get take out etc! Spend time with your little one, doing whatever it is, that brings you joy!
