What You Need to Know about Infant Probiotics:
As many of you know, my daughter Blake, was born at home. After having an unplanned c-section with my son Liam, the feeling of having a VBAC at home was out of this world. Naturally I assumed, “I just had a perfect birth, why wouldn’t I have a perfect baby!?” The first few weeks of Blake’s life were perfect. I was back to my regular routine within a week or two. Blake and Liam were napping at the same time each day and she was sleeping through the night. Blake was happy and healthy. What more could a parent ask for?!
Then suddenly, between the age of 4-6 weeks things started to go down hill. While Blake was still sleeping through the night, nap time became a thing of the past. At first, it did not occur to me that she needed a probiotic. I thought she was happy and healthy!
I was struggling with postpartum anxiety and depression because my world suddenly flipped upside down.
Blake was miserable. She was constantly spitting up and was only happy in an upright position, (this meant A LOT of baby wearing, which took its physical toll on me.) It was also very obvious she was extremely bloated. We tried everything to relieve her stomach pain, chiropractic adjustments, essential oils, tummy massage and even a gas passer. As things got worse and worse, I knew she was in need of a probiotic.
At first, I was in shock with my thoughts being: “You were born at home, without any exposure to pain medication or antibiotics. How could you possibly need a probiotic?! You are exclusively breastfed and I stick to a very strict gluten free, organic, non-gmo, dairy free, low FODMAP diet… How could my milk not be perfect?!” Well clearly I was wrong, so here is what you need to know about infant gut health! I wish I had started Blake on a probiotic from day one!

What has Happened to Gut Health over the Generations?
It was normal for babies in developed countries (such as the United States) to be born with B. infantis. This bacteria is crucial for the development of a happy and healthy gut!
Sadly, this good bacteria has disappeared over the generations. Modern medical practices such as c-sections, antibiotics and even formula feeding at the root cause. While all of these are very important medical advances that save the lives of both mother’s and children. Unfortunately these medical advances have wreaked havoc on baby’s gut health generation after generation. Sadly 9 out of 10 babies are born missing this amazing bacteria! Without B. infantis, bad bacteria is able to flourish!
Whether you are pregnant, trying to conceive or have an infant that is still breastfeeding, this post is for you. It is never too early or too late to reset your thinking on infant gut health. By taking a proactive approach now, your baby will be set up for lifelong health down the road.
Evivo is the first and only clinically proven baby probiotic. Evivo has been proven to restore the good bacteria, B. infantis, that is critical for a healthy infant gut.
While there are other probiotics on the market, Evivo is the only one specifically formulated to partner with breastmilk. The amazing nutrients in breastmilk, HMOs aka Human Milk Oligosaccharides, feed the B. infantis in Evivo, B. infantis transforms the HMOs into valuable nutrition for your baby. Good bacteria is super critical when it comes to a healthy metabolism and stronger immune system. Without B. infantis in your baby’s gut, bad bacteria can thrive. I wish we had started Blake on Evivo from day one!

Everyone tried to tell me “Blake just has colic, she will out grow it”. However, I would not stand for that and that is when I sought out an infant probiotic and found Evivo.
Myth: Baby Probiotics are only needed when symptoms appear.
Fact: Probiotics are not just for fixing symptomatic conditions. Evivo is the only probiotic clinically proven to repopulate baby’s gut with the good bacteria they are missing 100% of the time.
If I were to go back in time, I would have started Blake on Evivo from day one! She was two months old when I placed my first Evivo order, (she is five months old at the time of this post), and the results were immediate.
Myth: There’s not enough science to prove probiotics are really helpful.

As someone who has been on a probiotic for over 5 years and seen my own health drastically turn around. I have never doubted Evivo.

I Cannot Recommend Evivo Probiotic ENOUGH!
As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, Blake was miserable… I was miserable… for an entire month straight before we ordered Evivo. (She was 2 months old when I placed my first order). Within one day, Blake was having regular bowel movements, was much happier and started sleeping during the day. Blake has been on Evivo for 3 months straight, (she is currently 5 months old), she is the happiest baby I have ever met!
Blake is sleeping through the night (10-12 hours straight with 1-2 feedings)
She is napping 2-3 times per day for 2-4 hour stretches.
Blake has been so happy that she started taking a pacifier and sucking her thumb. Being able to self soothe has meant she no longer needs to nurse to pacify herself. By self soothing she stopped over feeding which was adding to her stomach discomfort.
She can be left with anyone for the day and is more than happy to drink breastmilk from a bottle!
My husband and I have also reaped the benefits of Blake enjoying Evivo! The majority of my postpartum anxiety and all of my postpartum depression has gone away! Our quality of life has truly gotten so much better. We are able to go out on date nights and leave both kids with Grandparents because Blake is happy and content. We are both getting more sleep than we ever would have imagined with two children under the age of three!
