Out of Sight Out of Mind?! But should it be…
Okay, let’s get real, how often do you give your back a once over?
How often do you take time to exfoliate, apply lotion or massage the largest section of your skin??
I am guessing the answer is similar to mine, not very often!
Did you know that you can see your Esthetician for more than a facial and an armpit wax?!
The last few months my hormones have been wreaking havoc on my skin. I am regularly having a period each month AND still nursing Liam throughout the day. Now as someone with a back ground in holistic nutrition, I am the first one to say that gut health and skin health are connected. But when your as paleo as you can be, on a great supplement and probiotic regimen and you STILL have back acne, something needs to be done topically! I am also getting lab work done and I have an appointment with my nutritionist in a couple of weeks to make sure I am all dialed in.
My back acne has been CRAZY, and nothing was working! After talking with Melody, my skincare goddess, I decided to give a back facial a try! If you are local you NEED to see Melody Riedell (aka @oasis_skincare) she uses non toxic, safer products that WORK. DM her on Instagram or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org
The following are a list of individuals who would benefit from a back facial.
- Teenagers going through puberty
- Women who are postpartum
- Men who are not flexible enough to reach their backs
- Brides getting ready for their big day
- Anyone with skin
- Anyone with a back
SO basically everyone! Plus, it’s great “me” time and super relaxing.
I asked Melody the main reasons someone would enjoy/need a facial.
- Acne Treatment
- Personal Care
- Sun Damage
I also asked Melody what the benefits are of getting a back facial.
- Wedding day prep (for the bride with a low cut dress and troubled skin.)
- Prevention (Your Esthetician can spot moles or skin tags that you may want to see a Dermatologist about.)
- Acne (Can be extracted and treated with high frequency.)
- Sun Damage, very rare, but a peel can be applied to your back as well!
Below is a time lapse of my one hour back facial! You can also check out my Story Highlights on Instagram!
It was a very relaxing process and I can’t wait to see how my skin does. I plan to go back in 4-6 weeks for another one!.
First Melody steamed my back to prep the skin and open up the pores. Then she cleansed my skin to remove sweat and bacteria. After cleansing she exfoliated my back with a glycolic scrub and then the Beautycounter Lemongrass Sugar Scrub. (Now I know why dogs like their back scratched haha!) After exfoliating (and obviously removing the scrub) Melody applied a green clay mask. After wiping off the mask, Melody moved onto my favorite part, EXTRACTIONS! (Any other popaholics out there?!) After popping all of my pimples (YUCK!) she used a high frequency zit zapper! (This thing is amazing, when she used it during my facial I had ZERO breakouts after.) Before sending me back into the real world, Melody applied the Nourishing Night Cream.
MOVING FORWARD: I plan to implement a better back skin care regimen in between back facials!
Here are a few items that I can’t wait to try out or use on a more regular basis!
